Dan Happe Exit Fear Raised At Leyton Orient

Leyton Orient will be looking to repeat last season’s heroics in the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.

The O’s came within touching distance of the Championship last term but were bested by Charlton Athletic in the League One play-off final.

Ethan Galbraith and Jordan Brown both exited Orient earlier this summer, whilst the likes of Charlie Kelman, Jamie Donley and Jack Currie all returned to their parent clubs following loan spells.

This has seen Richie Wellens lose a lot of the key components that brought him so much success last term, which will make battling for promotion once more all the more challenging.

Football League World’s Leyton Orient fan pundit, Alex Rose, has highlighted one player in particular that the club can’t afford to lose in the remainder of the window.

Leyton Orient handed clear Dan Happe transfer verdict

“It’s hard to name players we can’t afford to sell, because we lost so many after the play-off final,” stated Alex. “We had five, six, seven players on loan that went back to their parent clubs.

“We then sold our best player in Ethan Galbraith, we sold Jordan Brown to Blackpool, but I don’t think the fanbase was too upset about that if I’m completely honest.

“There were a few out of contract players like Dan Agyei who left the club that I would have liked to have kept. So, when looking at the current squad, I think the only player at the moment that I wouldn’t want to leave is Dan Happe.

Dan Happe 2024/25 Leyton Orient League One stats, as per Fotmob
Appearances 26
Aerial Duels Won per 90 4.90
Duels Won per 90 6.33
Dribbled Past per 90 0.18

“He’s been at Orient for the last 10 years and there’s always been rumblings that Sunderland, amongst other clubs are in for him but he’s always stayed loyal.

“When he’s fit, he’s an absolutely brilliant centre-back and really complements our other defenders incredibly well. He’s a homegrown player and looking at the squad, thinking about who clubs have come in to bid for in the past, I don’t think you can sell Dan Happe.

“You have to hope that he can stay fit for the year and really build the defence around him.”

Losing Daniel Happe would be a bitter blow for Leyton Orient

With so many of Orient’s key players already leaving Brisbane Road, it’s crucial that Wellens and Co. avoid letting more of their current crop leave.

Daniel Happe has been with the O’s for his entire career, helping the club to promotions from the National League and League Two.

The 26-year-old currently has one more season left on his deal, which could attract potential suitors to make a bid.

A number of injury issues have somewhat quelled his impact on the team in recent times, but at his best, he’s a top-quality centre-back who is a real asset for Orient.

Therefore, they must try their best to keep him where he is this summer and maintain his fitness into the 2025/26 campaign.
