With the NBA Draft just around the corner, we might see some big moves.
This class isn’t as stacked with talent as others, so that could leave the door open for multiple teams to trade down from their current positions.
With that in mind, the Charlotte Hornets could look to land one of the few distinctive talents in this edition.
According to a report by Houston Rockets insider Kelly Iko, the Hornets have been in touch about getting the No. 3 pick (via NBA Central).
Apparently, they would package their first-round selection — which is No. 6 — alongside big man Mark Williams to get the third-overall pick.
Iko claims that Williams is a player that intrigues the Rockets, which is a bit of a surprise, considering the fact that they already have Alperen Sengun, and Jock Landale and will get Steven Adams back as well.
Also, if the Rockets are in the market for a big man, they could simply use that No. 3 pick to get Donovan Clingan out of UConn, who’s seen as one of the few potential stars in this class.
The Hornets have struggled to contend for years now, but they seem quite high on Brandon Miller.
They might lose Miles Bridges in the offseason and there will always be concerns and doubts about LaMelo Ball’s durability, not to mention some rumors about him eventually walking away from the team, so it makes sense that they want to add more young talent around Miller.
Whether the Rockets will help them out remains to be seen.
