Swindon Town Boss Opens Up On His Players’ Quality And Performances At The Moment After Walsall Win

Only Bradford City and Notts County have taken more points from the last 15 games than Swindon after they went away and defeated the league leaders Walsall.

Holloway said that the quality of the performances at the moment is producing all the motivation he needs to make sure players keep going.

He said: “I am absolutely delighted for everybody as every single one of our lads has to play out of their skin and even if they do then I still might not pick them.

“That is the thing that is the biggest difference, nobody is sulking, nobody is moaning, they are all just coming on and doing a job.

“You could argue that that is what they are paid to do but not every professional footballer does that these days, so well done to our lot.

“The players have left everything out there and I might have to change it around, but that is not really an issue, I just have to get right what we do.

“I felt that I needed the experience that he [Tom Nichols] has got in that ten instead of [Jake] Cain, but he did not deserve not to play.

“He has done so well, but the way he has taken that and the attitude that he has got with how he came on at the end.

“Everybody is just fighting for each other and that is the bare minimum that I will put up with as a human being and that is not a bad standard to have.”

Holloway said that, even with all of the positivity, he will not be satisfied by what the team are doing until they accomplish what he feels they can.

He said: “We didn’t match them [Walsall] until later on, we played our way, which we wouldn’t have been able to do before.

“We had a back four with a central midfielder playing in there as he did so well last week and even when I had to change it everybody fitted in and it looked good.

“We have come a long way in a short time but we have got to go further; I am never going to be happy until we are where I think we can be and we have more than enough games left to do it.”
