Norwich City Have Reportedly Submitted Bid For Swindon Town’s U20 International Forward

That’s according to the Moonraker, who are reporting that the Canaries made contact with the League Two outfit intent on striking a deal for the Iraq U20 international, who is yet to sign a professional contract at the County Ground.

Swindon have offered improved terms to Ameen, which would mean they have improved their position in the event a transfer requires tribunal adjudication in the future.

Ameen has made 17 senior appearances for Ian Holloway’s side this season, scoring his first professional league goal in Swindon’s 4-0 victory over Grimsby in April.

A host of other Premier League and Championship sides have watched the 18-year-old, who was previously on the books at QPR prior to joining Swindon. Ameen revealed that he was still unsure about his long-term future despite exposure to first-team football in Wiltshire.

“Honestly, not yet,” the teenager told the Swindon Advertiser last month.

“With my agent and everyone who is representing me has had some back and forth with the club talking about the contract.

“I genuinely don’t know what is going to happen with my future. Obviously, it would be a pleasure to sign on [with Swindon], but there are technicalities here and there.

“We don’t know what the future holds, but it is definitely an exciting time for my future.

“Whatever decision I am going to make will be the right one, I am never going rush a decision or make a decision if I don’t know whether it will be a good one.”

Holloway recently revealed that he met the teenager’s parents in a bid to persuade him to commit his future to Swindon.

“He is a wonderful young man, and it was brilliant to be able to congratulate them [Ameen’s parents] on the job they have done bringing up a wonderfully level and balanced human being.

“I believe that he is going to be a fantastic footballer, and I want to be part of his development, and I have got to try and earn that right,” the Swindon boss said.

We got him from Queens Park Rangers, and they didn’t want him, he went to West Brom, and they didn’t take him either, so we picked him up.

“I am delighted with my senior pros for making it a joy for these young lads to play for us, and I trust them with that.

“They are encouraging him [Ameen], they are protecting him, and it is just about where I am going to play him.

“I have no idea at the minute as when he comes in and gets more of the ball, it is a joy to see the way he plays.”
