The Dolphins and Head Coach Mike McDaniel agreed on a four-year extension that will keep the Fins Frontman linked to the organization through the 2028 season. McDaniel is coming off back-to-back playoff appearances.
Under McDaniel, who was a former offensive coordinator and run coordinator, the Dolphins had the top-ranked offense in the league in 2023. McDaniel, 41, has also had strong success with Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa recently signed a long-term deal of his own, agreeing to a four-year, $214.4 million contract in July. The organization believing that this is the duo that can lead Miami back to a Super Bowl.
Miami is now among the most dynamic offensive teams in the NFL thanks in great part to his creative play-calling and strategic sense.
While the exact terms of the new contract have not been publicly disclosed, it is estimated that McDaniel could earn between $3.5 million and $4.5 million per year.
This places him among the higher-paid coaches in the league. With the extension set, the McDaniel will now turn his attention toward the 2024 season, as the Dolphins will attempt to make the playoffs again and hopefully nab their first postseason win since 2000.
