Aston Villa’s mighty £488m squad market value compared to Leeds and West Ham ahead of new season

Aston Villa have become regular European challengers under Unai Emery in recent years, reaching Europe for a third successive season with a sixth-placed finish in 2024/25.

Their squad reflects that of a Premier League powerhouse and Transfermarkt statistics reveal all about how the Villains’ squad compares to that of their Premier League rivals up and down the country. Transfermarkt state that Villa’s squad is worth £488m as of July 2025, with a mixture of youth and experience leading to a variation in market values between the club’s key players.

Market values are usually estimated through a range of factors, such as age, potential, form, career, contract length and injury record. All of this comes together to suggest how much a player should be worth to their club – though it is often the case that a club demands far in excess of this, due to immeasurable factors like the impact they have on the squad and how much they would be missed on the pitch.

Which players in Aston Villa’s squad have the highest market value?

Morgan Rogers is regarded by Transfermarket as the most valuable player in Aston Villa’s squad, valued at €55m (£47.3m) after a breakout season where he became one of the most exciting young players in the Premier League. Following Rogers is 23-year-old midfielder Amadou Onana, who enjoyed a stellar first season in claret and blue to see his market value rise to €50m (£43m).

While Rogers and Onana are yet to reach their ‘prime’, many of Villa’s key men are in their supposed prime years right now and so their values are slightly lower to reflect this. England striker Ollie Watkins is valued at €40m (£34.4m), the same price as midfielder Boubacar Kamara, while Youri Tielemans is valued at €38m (£32.7m) and Ezri Konsa at €35m (£30m). 32-year-old Emiliano Martinez is valued at €20m (£17.2m).

Academy product Jacob Ramsey is valued at €32m (£27.5m), a testament to his quality considering his extensive injury problems. Centre-back Pau Torres also comes in at €32m. Meanwhile, the ten players with highest market value in Villa’s squad are completed by Ian Maatsen and Leon Bailey (both €28m/£24m).

Aston Villa’s squad value compared to Premier League rivals

Villa’s impressive £488m squad comes in at ninth-most expensive in the Premier League according to Transfermarkt, significantly above other top-flight clubs such as Wolves, Leeds United and West Ham United. The full list is below, with squad value and most valuable player listed for each club:

  • 20) Sunderland – £168.1m, Chris Rigg
