Blackburn Talks Confidence Ahead Of Canaries Clash

Danny Batth says his Blackburn Rovers side are relishing their trip to Carrow Road this weekend, as he prepares to face Norwich City for the first time since his summer exit.

Batth was released by the Canaries at the end of last season, with sporting director Ben Knapper deciding not to take up the option to extend his contract by a further year.

The 33-year-old has subsequently completed a move to Rovers, making his full debut in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup thrashing of Stockport County.

He’s backing the Lancashire side to be at their best in NR1, after starting the season with two convincing wins.

“They’re a good side, man for man,” he said. “We’ll have to back ourselves going there, and play our football and make it a difficult game.

“We’ll go there full of confidence now, look forward to it, rest and recover and go and make a real game of it.

“The manager watches a lot of football, so he’ll know a lot about the team already. I’m sure he’ll ask me one or two things on individuals.

“But it’s another game like any other in the Championship, it’ll be tough going there. Every point in this league is earned.

“It’s the best feeling in the world, winning a game of football, isn’t it? So if we can do that on a regular basis, we’ll have a happy group, a happy manager and a happy fan base. So let’s try and keep doing that as many times as we can.”

Batth ensured he retained his fitness despite a long wait for the right club, and is enjoying building his minutes at Ewood Park.

“I’ve done lots and lots of training over the off-season,” he told official Rovers channels. “I’ve been in at Wolves, done a lot of training there and replicated it pre-season.

“But there hasn’t been the game’s there for me, so obviously I’m getting as many minutes as I can. To get 90 minutes was a bonus (in the Carabao Cup). We’ve got a really good squad building now, a real good chemistry in the group.”
