The Phoenix Suns are at home on Friday night as they host the San Antonio Spurs where they will try to end their losing streak.
Phoenix enters Friday’s game amid an eight-game losing streak as their terrible season continues. Of course, with their loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, the Suns have officially been eliminated from the playoffs, a shocking result with their high expectations entering the season.
While their season is basically over as they have nothing left to play for, the Suns would like to finish the season on a high note by ending their losing streak against a Spurs team that has lost eight of their last 10 games.
Unfortunately for the Suns, they will once again be without their superstar forward Kevin Durant in Friday’s matchup as he has been ruled out due to a left ankle injury.
Durant has missed five consecutive games for the Suns due to a left ankle sprain and Friday’s contest will mark his sixth consecutive absence.
This is a massive blow for the Suns who have struggled without Durant in their lineup as they have not had any of their other players step up except for Devin Booker who has been asked to carry the load for Phoenix.
With Durant sidelined, expect Royce O’Neal, Ryan Dunn and Grayson Allen to continue to have an increased role against the Spurs.
With the Suns having just one game left in their season after Friday’s game, it is likely that Durant has played his last game in a Suns jersey as Phoenix is expected to trade him in the offseason.
Of course, Phoenix’s big three of Durant, Booker and Bradley Beal has been a complete failure thus far and the Suns are expected to try and move both Durant and Beal in the offseason, meaning Durant’s brief stint in Phoenix has likely already come to an end.
