Swindon Town are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Laura Holden, subject to FA approval. The 24-year-old, most recently of Scottish Premier side Aberdeen, has experience across the top flight of Scottish Football and Tier three of the FA Women’s National League. Following her departure from Aberdeen this summer, the versatile midfielder has agreed to a move to Wiltshire that will see her bolster the Robins’ midfield options for the upcoming season.

Holden started her career at Bristol City’s academy when she was 17 years old before joining Bridgwater in the summer of 2021. Months later, she scored the winning goal against Crystal Palace to book Bridgwater’s place in the fourth round of the FA Cup against Manchester United.

Holden’s last goal in Bridgwater colours came in October 2022 against Cheltenham Town, who she joined a month later after impressing their manager, which is where the midfielder would link up with Manager Richard Wood from his time as a coach there. In July 2023, Laura would move to Scottish Premier side Aberdeen on a two-year contract, moving 530 miles up the country.

Upon signing for Swindon Town, Laura Holden said: “It feels amazing to join the club and I really feel like it’s been a long time coming, coming to a club where I feel wanted and I’m delighted to sign here with Richard, a manager I know really well as well.”

“The club in itself are moving in the right direction, their ambitions and playing every game this season at such a huge stadium is going to be amazing in general. It’s a huge stadium, the club’s history throughout the stadium, and I’m excited to step out on the pitch and get going.”
