Stoke City and Coventry City are the latest sides to show interest in Crystal Palace’s Jeffrey Schlupp, according to reporter Pete O’Rourke.
Stoke City and Coventry City are both in the market for new recruits as they look towards an improved 2025.
The Potters are now under the lead of former Sky Blues boss and club legend Mark Robins, bringing him in to replace Narcis Pelach. Frank Lampard has replaced Robins at the CBS Arena in a bid to turn their campaign around.
Winter business will be key to the efforts of both Championship clubs, but it seems they could be set to go to battle for one signing.
According to reporter Pete O’Rourke, Stoke City and Coventry City are both interested in bringing in Crystal Palace utility man Jeffrrey Schlupp this month.
The versatile Ghanaian has been linked with a whole host of Championship clubs this month as he approaches the end of his deal at Selhurst Park. After signing over eight years ago, the 32-year-old looks to be coming towards the end of his time with the Eagles.
All of Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End, QPR and Millwall have also been said keen on Schlupp, though a move has not come to fruition for the midfielder at this point. Clubs in the MLS are also interested.
A valuable asset
It’s no wonder Schlupp has so many admirers in the Championship with Stoke City and Coventry City claimed to be the latest sides interested.
Although not a regular for Crystal Palace anymore, the German-born midfielder has a wealth of experience to his name. He has played 280 times in the Premier League, chipping in with 22 goals and 15 assists across spells with Crystal Palace and Leicester City.
His versatility is no doubt his biggest asset though. Schlupp can play anywhere on the left-hand side as well as in central midfield, also operating on the right when required too.
And, with his deal up this summer, he has the potential to be a very shrewd signing.
Tricky competition
Not only are Stoke City, Coventry City and the several other Championship sides battling one another for Schlupp, but MLS sides are also keen.
At this stage in Schlupp’s career, a move to the United States may well prove a tempting opportunity, and that could be an obstacle for his Championship admirers.
Schlupp still has some good years ahead of him at 32 but having spent his entire career on these shores, it could be a final opportunity for the versatile midfielder to test himself overseas and start a new chapter in the MLS.
