NRLW Players: Najvada George | Wests Tigers

The Sharks are pleased to announce the signing of New Zealand international Najvada George on a one-year NRLW deal for 2026.

George will add starch to the Cronulla forward pack after securing a release from the final season of her contract with the North Queensland Cowboys to be closer to family.

A two-time Grand Finalist, the Melbourne-born prop has notched up 31 NRLW appearances since making her debut for St George Illawarra in 2019.

The 26-year-old embarked on stints with Parramatta (2022) and Wests Tigers (2023-2024) before linking with the Cowboys in 2025.

George has also played basketball at the elite level, representing the WNBL’s Dandenong Rangers and the under-17 Australian Sapphires before channelling her talent into football.

Blending power and experience, George is keen to embrace a new challenge in the Sutherland Shire under the astute coaching of Tony Herman.

“I’m excited to join the Sharks for a change of scenery,” George said.

“It’s near the beach with good people, good vibes, good coaching staff and a good leadership group with Tiana (Penitani Gray) as captain.

“I was drawn to the club because the girls have a close bond and my best friend Annessa (Biddle) is there. I’m so close to her and we do everything together.

“Tony’s a good guy. I know what he’s like and I know his coaching style. I’m excited to play in new colours and with a good bunch of girls.

“I just want to play my best footy and do the best that I can. Hopefully, I can bring all my strengths and do my best for the team. I mostly want to enjoy my footy and be happy.

“I wanted to come home to Sydney. It’s closer to my family and I started my career here.”

Coach Herman described George’s arrival as a major coup for the club.

“Najvada is a proven performer in the NRLW, with her hard-running ability and skillset making her a valuable addition to our squad,” he said.

“Anyone who has represented their country is a quality player and Najvada certainly fits that mould. We’re thrilled to welcome her into the Sharks family.”

Following in the footsteps of her trailblazing aunt Selena Edmonds, George earned the first of her six New Zealand caps to date in 2023.

She played a key role in the Kiwi Ferns’ Pacific Championships campaign in 2024, coming off the interchange in the final against Australia.
