WARRINGTON Wolves forward Ben Currie has been hit with a disciplinary charge following this week’s sitting of the Match Review Panel.However, it will not immediately affect his availability for upcoming matches although it does put him on something of a tightrope.
Currie has been handed a Grade B head contact charge following an incident during the early stages of Saturday’s Round Three victory over Wakefield Trinity that saw him penalised as his shoulder made contact with the head of Trinity hooker Tyson Smoothy.
Currie remained on the field at the time but the Match Review Panel have since deemed the tackle worthy of further punishment.
As such, he has now had three penalty points added to his record but he still falls below the threshold that would trigger a suspension.
On the whole, it was a busy weekend for the panel with 14 Super League players charged in total.
