Chelsea Academy youngster Billy Gee has chosen to leave the club on a permanent transfer, joining Norwich City on Transfer Deadline Day. The 19-year-old had one year left on his initial pro deal at Chelsea; he has signed a four-year deal with the Canaries.

Transfer terms were not disclosed but any fee is unlikely to be more than a token amount, with perhaps some future consideration (add-ons and/or sell-ons) included.

South London-born Gee joined the Chelsea Academy at the U8 level, and had featured in central midfield and central defense both as he’s worked his way up the ranks. He’s been capped at the U19 level by England and was called up to the first-team for a bench appearance in last year’s League Cup final against Liverpool.

“I’m very happy, it’s the start of a new chapter. I’m ready for the new challenge.

“I was captain last season for the (Chelsea) Under-21s so I think I can bring leadership skills and I think I can bring a lot of on-the-ball ability. I hope I can break through and try to push for the first team.”

After finishing sixth and contesting the promotion playoffs, Norwich City have made a poor start to the new season, winless in their first three league games and getting eliminated from the League Cup as well.

Billy Gee may not go immediately into their first-team, but hopefully he will get to impress cause a scene in the near future.
