Leeds United 31-Year-Old Makes Opens Up On Future Amid Bench Role

David Norris can see the logic to why Patrick Bamford appears content at Leeds United despite rarely being selected.

The former Whites midfielder says Bamford is “comfortable” collecting a good weekly wage at Elland Road and will be mindful of future contracts in his career which are likely to be a drop-off.

Norris also thinks a potential promotion incentive in the striker’s contract may influence his decision to remain at the club, although Daniel Farke’s pecking order does not favour him.

Patrick Bamford news: 'Special' role in store for Leeds star as expert makes claim on dismal season

“I can see the logic behind why Bamford seems quite comfortable there – he’s been there a long time and on decent wages. He might have something lucrative in his contract for if they get promoted as well,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“The lack of game time you would think would make him make move to get away or be a bit publicly ambitious, but he seems happy enough at Leeds.

“We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks as we approach January, but if nothing materialises I would assume he’s happy with what he’s earning and he’ll be mindful of what he’s likely to earn after he’s gone.”

Patrick Bamford barely featuring for Leeds United

Some have jumped to the defence recently of Bamford, whose professionalism has never been questioned, but debate has arisen over the motive of his staying at the club.

Leeds United have a hierarchy in their attack with both Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph preferred to Bamford up front, as Farke adopts a system with a lone number nine.

The former England ace, 31, has played just 37 minutes of first-team action in the past 13 games, stretching back to 23 August.
