Kurt Zouma Set For Another Medical Twist For West Ham United Transfer

Kurt Zouma is set for a second medical with Shabab Al-Ahli and could return to West Ham if the results on his knee are negative, according to Gianluigi Longari.

The TV Dello Sport journalist posted on X (12 August) that the 29-year-old was “likely” to undergo a more detailed medical with the Emirati club after complications arose from his first [UAE Kick, 11 August].

Zouma’s knee will be a big focus in the second medical, with Longari reporting that if negative, the centre-back could return to East London with the deal in jeopardy.

The Irons have made no secret of their desire to shift Zouma off the books this summer, despite the Frenchman having been appointed their captain for the most recent Premier League campaign.

Although not quite an ever-present last season, Zouma still made 33 league appearances as the Hammers shipped an eye-watering 74 goals, the most of any side who didn’t end up being relegated.

As such, it’s hardly surprising to see Julen Lopetegui ushering a plethora of defensive signings through the doors at the London Stadium, and pushing others to leave at the same time.

While Nayef Augerd’s exit is proving difficult [Sean Whetstone, 6 August], Zouma’s lengthy injury history could prove to be the sticking point that results in him staying put.

With Max Kilman and new loan-to-buy signing Jean-Clair Todibo expected to be Lopetegui’s first-choice centre-backs, game time will be at a premium for Zouma next season – if the Hammers can’t find a way to sell him this summer.
