Important Funds Raised For Sheffield Wednesday Amid £1.5m Manchester City Transfer switch For Striker

Sheffield Wednesday prospect Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri has completed his medical ahead of a £1.5m Manchester City switch, as per The Star.

Sheffield Wednesday are in the midst of a crisis and are set to see players depart as a result. An exodus is expected after SWFC missed payments once again.

The financial issues overseen by owner Dejphon Chansiri have plunged the Owls into crisis, and their preparations for the new season have been impacted heavily.

Players have been allowed to serve notice and rip up their contracts, seeing them lose assets for nothing. However, one player who will be moving and is going to command a fee is teenage prospect Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri.

It has been widely reported that the 15-year-old Sheffield Wednesday academy acce is poised for a move to Manchester City and The Star is now reporting that Cadamarteri has completed his medical ahead of the proposed move to the North West.

The only thing holding up the move from SWFC to the Etihad Stadium is approval from the Premier League, which is expected to be provided imminently.

Cadamarteri’s move to Manchester City will raise a very welcome £1.5m, it is added, which could put a welcome dent in Wednesday’s outstanding payments.

Important funds raised for Sheffield Wednesday

The money coming in for Cadamarteri might not be groundbreaking, but it will go some way to settling the debts owed at Sheffield Wednesday.

Not only do staff need to be paid, but there are fees owed to Southampton for Shea Charles’ loon and wage contributions as well as fees for the 2022 deal to sign Akin Famewo from Norwich City.

There’s no hiding an injection of cash significant enough to lift SWFC out of this crisis is only likely to come from a takeover, but fans will not be holding their breath on that front after years of fruitless interest and dismissed bids from Chansiri.

Other departures may not yield welcome windfalls

The exit of Cadamarteri yields a welcome windfall for Sheffield Wednesday but after failed wage payments, they may not be so fortunate when it comes to departing first-team players.

Those who have given notice to rip up their contracts will not command transfer fees. Some already have done, and it is not out of the question that more follow.

Some players may well be prompted to do so by interest elsewhere. That could see the Owls lose players on free transfers that, in other circumstances, they could cash in on to help dig themselves out of this hole they have been sunk into by Chansiri.
