Hull City facing more bad news amid nervous wait over Mo Belloumi issue

Hull City face a nervous wait to find out if Mo Belloumi will be fit to face Charlton Athletic on Saturday, after he was replaced at half-time during the Tigers’ 2-2 draw at Leicester City on Tuesday night.

Belloumi was a constant threat in the first half, as City led at the break through Liam Millar’s 18th-minute goal, before he was replaced by Lewis Koumas at the interval after feeling his hamstring.

The decision to withdraw the Algerian, who gave Luke Thomas a torrid time in the first period, was made as a precaution, and it’s hoped there will be no lasting damage, given his issues with hamstring troubles this season since coming back from knee ligament surgery.

The news on Amir Hadziahmetovic was less positive for the Tigers, with the Bosnian unlikely to play again this season after sustaining a knee injury.

Amir suffered the issue in Saturday’s draw with Birmingham City but was able to play on, having previously been dealing with a foot issue.

In the days since the game against the Blues, Amir’s issue has become more serious and he went for a scan on Tuesday, which revealed damage. It’s not thought the injury puts his involvement in this summer’s World Cup in jeopardy, with a full prognosis due in the next few days.

There was more positive news for Sergej Jakirovic, with Ryan Giles playing 90 minutes at the King Power Stadium before being replaced by Paddy McNair in stoppage time. Giles made his first start since coming back from a second hamstring injury of the season, and came through the game with no issues.

Regan Slater was also introduced with just under 20 minutes to go, after missing the last four games with an ankle injury and it’s expected he’ll be considered for a start at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
