Patrick Agyemang is a player who “makes things happen”, says former Manchester United, Everton and USA international goalkeeper Tim Howard.
Derby County are said to be “closing in” on a $7m transfer deal for USA striker Agyemang.
With Carlton Morris’ move to Pride Park already finalised, the Rams are now being tipped to land Agyemang by ESPN – and Howard is a big fan of the player.
“Agyemang, for me, I hear different arguments. He’s a number nine that makes things happen – he does,” he said.
“You can talk about clinical finishing and so on. He makes things happen, he drags people along.
“I know there’s going to be some people out there who disagree with me. Show me another US number nine who is dangerous.
“Dangerous can be categorised a bunch of different ways, but he can do things on his own and as a US striker, we’ve talked about this over and over again throughout the years. A US nine has to be able to do things by themselves, on their own.”
The Charlotte FC forward has impressed on the international stage, earning his first call-up to the national team in January.
He has scored eight goals and has registered two assists for Charlotte and has five goals in nine games for the international team.
The 6ft 4in striker is regarded as hot property across the Atlantic and is currently with Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the Gold Cup where Agyemang again showed his prowess in front of goal as he scored the winner in a group game against Haiti.
