Eustace also praised Sondre Langas, who he said “has been using a lot of painkillers” to get through injury struggles, but that his willingness to “put his body on the line for the group is amazing”.

On Burnley, he said: “They’ve got matchwinners and quality all over the pitch, and they’re a well organised team. Scott [Parker] is a fantastic manager and is doing a really good job”.

Despite the Rams lifting themselves out of the drop zone in recent weeks, Eustace said the “the Championship is relentless”, and that he has been “surprised” by the number of injuries to the squad.

He added: “[We had] four in my first week, got a settled team for four or five games and then lost more players last week”.
