Coventry City Midfielder Signs 28-Year-Old To £130,000 Contract

Coventry city midfielder Josh Eccles has signed a new contract with the club until the summer of 2028.

The 24-year-old academy graduate first joined the club as a seven-year-old and has climbed through the age groups with the Sky Blues to become a first team regular.

Eccles also captained City against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup earlier this season and has made 18 appearances in all competitions this term.

Eccles said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be signing a new contract with Coventry City, the club I have been with since I was seven.

“It’s a very proud moment for me and my family and I just want to kick on again now and keep improving.

“I’ve always gone by the motto that hard work always pays off and this contract proves to me that it does.

“I’ve been through some tough times, and you know it’s never going to be easy, so to get through those tough times and have this good moment, I’m delighted, and I can’t wait to get going again.”

The midfielder has made 134 appearances in total for the Sky Blues scoring three goals.

He helped Coventry win the League One title in 2019/20 and also featured in the Championship play-off final in 2022/23 and FA Cup semi-final last season.
