Salford City Lionesses is excited to announce that Caz Simone has been appointed interim manager ahead of the 2025-26 season!
Caz has been working with the team since the start of last season while also playing at Huddersfield Town, where they were named FAWNL Northern Premier Division Player of the Year in 2023-24.
Having started their career at Manchester United in the academy, then Manchester City, Caz has a wealth of experience playing for the likes of Sheffield FC, FC United of Manchester, Brighouse Town and Huddersfield.
In addition they have been recognised for their off-field work and support for the LGBTQI+ community, winning a Football Black List award in 2024.
On their appointment, Caz said:
“I’m so excited, I’m buzzing! I’ve been a player most of my life, but from the time I’ve spent with the girls over the last season I’ve felt that dedication and the commitment that they have, and I really wanted to be involved more this season so when the opportunity came up I couldn’t say no to it.
“I think it’s the family feel and the community feel [that appeals to me]. I’ve spoken to Zarah many times about how close the team have been over the years, and we really want to try and build on that and bring it into this season.
“Individually and as a team they’re really talented, and last season we were really unlucky in many games. I’ve watched many of them back and it was a goal here, or one mistake, and I don’t think we really deserved to get relegated in the end.
“It was unfortunate, but sometimes it’s a positive to be relegated because it means you can re-build, you can learn, look back on what went well, what didn’t go well, and you can make sure you correct those mistakes and put things right in the season ahead.”
