Former Red Devils Boss Linked To Replace Mark Robins At Coventry City

Legendary striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is the latest name to be linked to the vacant Coventry City’s manager’s job.

The Dutchman only recently departed former club Manchester United where he won three and drew one of his four games in charge during an interim spell as Red Devils boss following the sacking of Erik ten Hag last month.

Incoming United manager Ruben Amorim decided against keeping van Nistelrooy at Old Trafford as part of his coaching staff leaving him free to explore other opportunities.

And van Nistelrooy now appears to be one of the favourites to replace Mark Robins at the Coventry Building Society Arena – priced as low as 4/1 with Sky Bet.

He spent one season in charge of Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven, winning both the Dutch Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield (Dutch Super Cup) during his only campaign at the helm in 2022/23.

And he is behind only Frank Lampard (1/1) and Lee Carsley (7/4) in the odds.

Lampard sits at even money for the first time since Robins’ sacking, having previously been odds-on favourite to take charge at the CBS Arena.

Interim England manager Carsley, who enjoyed two separate spells with the Sky Blues as a player as well as a coaching role, remains linked to the vacant post.

He takes charge of his final two England matches during the international break before deciding whether he wants to return to his post as under-21s manager.

The only other contender to replace Robins appears to be Wycombe Wanderers boss Matt Bloomfield (12/1) who has taken the Chairboys to the top of the League One table.

Coventry are seeking a new manager to replace former boss Robins who led the club to two promotions and an FA Cup semi-final during his near eight-year tenure.
