Penrith forward Liam Martin has declared he will reach test his worth on the open market when he reaches free agency on November 1.
The Panthers are facing a massive battle to retain several of their stars with Martin, Isaah Yeo, Nathan Cleary, Brian To’o, Mitch Kenny, Moses Leota all off contract at the end of 2027.
That happens to be when the PNG Chiefs enter the competition with Cleary and Yeo have already indicating they will head to free agency.
The Chiefs, armed with the ability offer tax-free contracts, have already secured the signature of Jarome Luai and are tipped to make a play for a number of the Panthers’ stars.
Martin would like to remain at the foot of the mountains, according to Code Sports, but he’s also open to joining the Chiefs.
“It’s not out of the question. It’s definitely of interest,” Martin said.
“Being part of something new and like, how much they love football, it’s incredible. And obviously Jarome going, it sort of opens the doors for a lot of people.
“I’ve discussed it with my partner and everything. Obviously would need a lot more details about it, but we certainly found it interesting.”
