Scienza, who arrived from FC Heidenheim last summer, has registered a very impressive 20 goal involvements this term.
It’s been a strange season. The fact that we’ve not won in weeks and still just three points off sixth probably sums up how poor the league has been this season. Ultimately we’re still in the race but there’s a lot needing to be done in summer if we qualify
You get what you deserve in this league and we havent deserved europe. Weve been let down too many times by players switching off and you dont get second chances against good teams.
It has been reported that the Brazilian forward, who can operate as an attacking midfielder and left winger, has a £25m release clause in his contract.
Now, there has been a further development on Scienza’s future, which should give Everton increased confidence of landing his signature.
Leo Scienza hints he will leave Southampton if they don’t get promoted
Speaking to Globo Esporte, Scienza has suggested he will consider leaving Southampton this summer if they don’t gain promotion to the Premier League.
“That (promotion) was my main objective when I signed here,” the 27-year-old stated.
“I had opportunities in the top divisions of Spain, Italy, France… I chose to come here because of the project. To go straight back to the Premier League, which is the best league in the world.
“At club level, there’s nothing higher than playing in the Premier League. I really hope we can achieve that with Southampton, it’s our goal.
“But if it doesn’t happen, we have to sit down and think after the season about what our options are.”
Saints are currently sitting fourth in the Championship, although they have an outside chance of finishing in the top two heading into the last two games of the season.
Everton chiefs will likely be keeping a close eye on their results and, of course, Scienza’s performances.
The Toffees are also eyeing Millwall’s Femi Azeez and Stoke City’s Sorba Thomas, both of whom have been standout performers in the second tier.
