Southampton are in the picture to sign 1. FC Heidenheim’s Christian Conteh in the summer.
He joined the Bundesliga side from Eintracht Braunschweig for around €1.5m in January and the move saw him play alongside his brother, Sirlord Conteh, at the German club.
Prior to his move to the top division, the forward managed five goals and three assists from 18 matches for Eintracht Braunschweig.
Since moving to Heidenheim, he failed to score or contribute an assist so far but that hasn’t put off Southampton.

Southampton keeping close watch
Christian Conteh’s struggles at 1. FC Heidenheim didn’t stop him from attracting interest from England.
That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who name Southampton as an interested party.
The Championship side are closely monitoring the German ahead of the next window and it’s unclear whether the Saints made contact with his agent or club.
FC Heidenheim are now bottom of the table [18 teams in the Bundesliga] with 16 points, seven points behind 16th placed FC St. Pauli.
The two clubs face each in the league later this weekend and a defeat for FC Heidenheim will confirm their relegation. Fussball Transfers say they are unlikely to avoid the drop.
This, coupled with interest from Southampton, could lead to the attacker’s rapid exit, just months after joining the top division side. It could also allow Tonda Eckert’s side to sign him on reasonable terms in the summer.
Conteh isn’t the only attacker on Southampton’s list. Earlier this month, Sport Witness relayed news the Saints, Leeds United and Watford are in the mix to sign Paris FC’s Ilan Kebbal.
Contract, value and agent info
Christian Conteh signed a contract until 2029 and is valued at €1.5m by Transfermarkt.
German based agency EMG Mundial are looking after his interest and taking care of his future.
