Portsmouth forced into yet another change in team blow against Southampton

Regan Poole is out of Pompey’s starting XI for the first league south-coast derby in 14 years.

The Blues make one change to the side which draw at Watford on Wednesday night.

Instead, the defender is on the bench, with John Mousinho unveiling a makeshift centre-half partnership of Connor Ogilvie and Ibane Bowat against Southampton.

Presumably the decision has been injury enforced, nonetheless Bowat’s recall puts two left-footers at the heart of the Blues’ defence this afternoon.

That represents the only change to the side which drew 1-1 at Watford on Wednesday night, making it four points out of a possible six on the road over the previous week.

However, Marlon Pack returns to the bench following injury, while Keshi Anderson is involved for the first time since arriving on a free transfer on Tuesday.

Pompey also have 10 players absent, with Conor Shaughnessy, Franco Umeh, Harvey Blair, Mark Kosznovszky, Hayden Matthews, Josh Murphy, Callum Lang, Florian Bianchini, Josh Knight and Thomas Waddingham all unavailable.
