West Brom Agree €5.5m Deal To Sign €5.5m 23-Year-Old Norweigan Forward

West Brom are preparing for another season in the Championship, entering a fresh chapter at The Hawthorns. WBA will be hoping new manager Ryan Mason can lead them back to the Premier League.

The former Spurs boss is set to make his presence felt this summer, using his first pre-season to instil his philosophy while shaping the squad with new signings during his debut transfer window. The Baggies have only made one signing so far, in the form of Nat Phillips, but are closing in on another.

According to Fabrizio Romano, via X, West Brom have agreed a deal to sign Brann striker Aune Heggebo. The Baggies will pay around €5.5m for the 23-year-old.

WBA are in the market for a new striker, and this news comes just two days after it was reported that target Lawrence Shankland would remain at Hearts. Heggebo is expected to compete with Josh Maja and Daryl Dike for the number nine role.

More on Heggebo

Aune Heggebo has emerged as a promising striker with SK Brann. His career began in the youth ranks of IL Bjarg before joining Brann’s academy, where his talent quickly shone.

He turned professional with Brann in 2020, debuting in the Eliteserien, Norway’s top tier. Over the years, Heggebø has become a key figure, amassing 121 appearances and scoring 40 goals by early 2025.

His standout 2024 season saw him net 12 goals and provide 5 assists in 28 matches, earning recognition as a reliable finisher. In 2025, he has had a fine year so far, scoring seven goals in 13 Eliteserien games whilst averaging a 7.32 match rating, according to FOTMob.

Promise fulfilled

Earlier this week, West Brom’s Chief Executive Andrew Nestor, had spoken about his club’s need for attacking options. After signing defender Nat Phillips, new additions in attack were next on the agenda.

It has been a quick turnaround for the club to act on those words from Nestor. This is a very promising sign ahead of the next two months of the transfer window, and they are showing that they are not scared to spend.

The Baggies have some big gaps to fill this summer, but this is a good start. Quality over quantity looks to be the aim in this window.
