2024 FedExCup Playoffs to offer PGA TOUR fans unparalleled access

One event remains until the Top 70 in the FedEx Cup standings take on the playoffs. Let’s look at the standings after the 3M Open.

Each morning will feature a Golf Talk Today, in which the crew will discuss various elements of the PGA Tour, LIV Golf and other professional golf tournaments.

Only one tournament remains in the PGA Tour regular season—the Wyndham Championship. It will be their last chance to earn FedEx Cup points until after the playoffs.

The Wyndham Championship is not this week, though. Before the season finale will be the 2024 Paris Olympic Games; this week, Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Wyndham Clark will represent the United States.

They will compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze beginning Thursday at Le Golf National, the 2018 Ryder Cup host.

The rest of the PGA Tour will get the week off, so let’s examine who the biggest movers were from the 3M Open week.

Reminder: FedEx Cup Playoff changes

Do not forget that the playoff field is no longer the Top 125 but the Top 70 players.

The Top 70 will take on TPC Southwind for the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis Aug 15- 18.

From there, the field will cut down to the Top 50. That group will play at Castle Pines Golf Course in Colorado for the BMW Championship Aug. 22-25. Finally, the field will go down to the Top 30 players who will play in Atlanta Aug. 28-Sept.1 at East Lake to compete in the Tour Championship.

Since 2019, the PGA Tour has implemented a stroke-based system for the Tour Championship. The FedEx Cup points leader begins the tournament at 10-under, and the strokes decrease.

2024 FedEx Cup standings (top 30)

Most of the Top 30 remains the same after the 3M Open Week. However, there was some movement towards the bottom end of the standings. Tony Finau and Akshay Bhatia flipped spots as he moved up to No. 14 and Bhatia to No. 15.

Past that, the changes do not start until No. 25 and beyond.
