Sunderland are in FA Cup action this Sunday as they face Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium on Sunday afternoon (2pm kick off).
Both Régis Le Bris and Oxford United head coach Matt Bloomfield have some significant team and injury concerns – here’s the latest as we have it from both camps.
1. Omar Alderete – out
The central defender will be rested for this game in order to fully recover from a minor foot issue.
2. Jamie Donley – available
The Spurs loanee picked up an injury on his debut for the club but will return on Sunday and could be named in the starting XI.
3. Will Lankshear – available
Oxford’s other Spurs loanee will be available again after suspension.
4. Granit Xhaka – out
Misses out as he recovers from an ankle issue. Making decent progress but still a couple of weeks away.
5. Bertrand Traore – out
Picked up a knee injury while representing Burkino Faso and is expected to be out for another couple of weeks at least.
6. Jocelin Ta Bi – available
Began full training with his new team mates earlier this week and could come into the matchday squad for the first time here.
7. Jack Currie – doubt
The left back is believed to now be close to a return and so could be involved in some capacity here.
8. Brian De Keersmaecker – out
The midfielder signed last summer for a ‘significant fee’ and is widely regarded as one of his team’s best players but isn’t quite ready to return from injury for this one.
9. Ahmed Abdullahi – out
Abdullahi is expected to get some game time with the U21s as he continues his recovery from injury.
10. Tyler Goodrham – out
Could miss the rest of the campaign with a severe ankle injury.
11. Nik Prelec – out
Forward on loan from Cagliari is sidelined with a groin issue and won’t feature here.
