The Golden State Warriors are on the road on Friday as they take on the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center.
Golden State enters Friday’s contest amid a two-game losing streak but they have won seven of their last 10 games. Of course, the Warriors are coming off a blowout loss to the Miami Heat in Jimmy Butler’s return to Miami and they will now look to bounce back against a struggling Pelicans team.
New Orleans has lost seven of their last 10 games as their terrible season continues due to the multitude of injuries their roster has suffered.
Because of this, the Warriors will look to get back into the win column and they also may have their superstar point guard Stephen Curry back on Friday as well.
Golden State has listed Curry as questionable for Friday’s game due to a pelvic contusion that he suffered against the Raptors on March 20 and has kept him sidelined for their last two games.
Despite this, head coach Steve Kerr is optimistic that Curry will return on Friday in New Orleans after he was able to go through practice on Thursday.
This is a great sign for the Warriors as they have missed Curry’s production while he has been sidelined, which has been a major reason for their last two losses.
This also comes at a perfect time for the Warriors as Gary Payton II was ruled out indefinitely on Thursday after suffering a ligament tear in his left hand.
Of course, Payton II filled in for Curry in the starting lineup in Tuesday’s loss to the Heat so the Warriors are hopeful that Curry can return to give them more backcourt depth with Payton II sidelined.
If Curry is still sidelined in Friday’s game, expect Buddy Hield to see an increased role and it would be likely that Curry would then return in Sunday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. Fans can catch Friday’s matchup between the Warriors and Pelicans at 8:00 p.m. EST.
