St George Illawarra Dragons keen as a potential landing spot for winger, centre and fullback from the Dolphins

November 1 has come and gone, and over 170 players are now free agents, available to sign on with rival clubs for 2027 and beyond.

As negotiations get underway, Zero Tackle will be previewing it all by running the rule over potential destinations for a host of the top-rated off-contract players.

Today, former Broncos, now Dolphins, outside back Selwyn Cobbo.

An Origin-experienced player who can slot in at fullback, wing or centre, Cobbo would add plenty to any side if he can get back to his best, and likely wouldn’t break the bank.

Will he be interested in leaving Queensland, and can he get back to that level?

They are the questions a lot of clubs must be asking, but the ones who should be making a play seem obvious.

St George Illawarra Dragons potential landing spots for the Queenslander

The Dragons seem a very obvious option to make a play for the off-contract star.

At the present time, Clint Gutherson, who is already seemingly on one knee, is still their fullback for 2027, while they have no wingers signed.

Cobbo would be no chance of knocking Moses Suli or Valentine Holmes out of the centres, but it’s clear Tyrell Sloan won’t be re-signed on the wing, Cody Ramsey has already left, and there is a fair chance coach Flanagan will be looking for options not named Nathan Lawson, Mathew Feagai or Christian Tuipulotu who are all off-contract at the end of 2026.

The Dragons have money to burn so that won’t be an issue, and with a young, building squad just out of the Sydney limelight, they could present as an appealing option to Cobbo, particularly given the upward trajectory the Red V should be on in the next two or three years.
