Southampton’s forward confident Saints are capable of beating any club on their best day ahead of trip to Coventry

Saints travel to face league leaders Coventry in a 12:30 kick-off, knowing that this game now has greater importance to their play-off hunt.

A 1-1 draw against relegation strugglers West Brom denied Saints the chance to move within one point of sixth-place Wrexham.

Should Wrexham beat Swansea on Friday evening, Tonda Eckert’s charges will fall six points adrift of the top six with a defeat at Coventry.

The Sky Blues have recovered from a recent wobble to reclaim a comfortable lead atop the division following a six-game winning streak.

Larin is confident Saints are capable of beating any club on their best day and is not concerned about Coventry’s form.

“At our best, we were able to beat anybody, and we showed that against a Premier League team [Fulham],” he told the Daily Echo.

“I think we can do the same against Coventry, and we just need to recover well and keep bringing the energy to that game.

“There’s no time to let your heads drop. We’ll take this point and look forward to the next game because the next game is the most important.”

Larin rescued a draw from the jaws of defeat for Saints at West Brom when he looped an injury-time header in off the underside of the crossbar.

This was the second occasion Saints have salvaged a result from a losing position since Larin arrived, but he still knows how far they have come.

The Canadian international hailed the resilience shown to earn a point even though Saints were unable to deliver a top performance.

“There are more games left to play; you can’t be frustrated. We’ll take this point, and we’ll keep going. Football changes very quickly,” he added.

“We’re right up there, so we just have to keep fighting. I was pleased with my impact, but we’re going to have games like this where not much football is played.

“You have to fight second balls, and this result shows how far we have come as a team. We didn’t give up. It’s an important point to take.

“We need every point we can get in each game. We kept fighting. You can easily give up in games like this when it’s not pretty or the type of football we like to play.

“When you can come out with something, it’s great. We got a point, it’s disappointing to concede a set-piece, but you gotta keep fighting.”
