Southampton could command a significant transfer fee for Kyle Walker-Peters who seems set to leave the St. Mary’s soon.
Southampton’s hold on the Kyle Walker-Peters situation is decreasing with each passing day. Around two weeks ago, the club prepared to agree fresh terms with the defender but nothing has been concrete, so far.
At this point, Walker-Peters seems to have made up his mind to leave St. Mary’s after five years. Undoubtedly, the Saints would want to enjoy his final remaining matches in a Southampton shirt before he waves goodbye.
That may have already happened against Newcastle United, that too in front of the home fans.
The reason being, that there are plenty of clubs battling for the 27-year-old’s signature. Initially, Premier League clubs wanted him on a free transfer but Galatasaray’s arrival has unlocked many possibilities in this transfer saga.
One of them could see Southampton receiving a surprise income windfall. That’s according to Fabrizio Romano who dropped a massive update on Galatasaray’s efforts to land Kyle Walker-Peters.

In his own words, Romano said: “Galatasary approached Southampton to sign Kyle Walker Peters. Southampton would prefer not to sell but will consider for the right price as player is in the last 6 months of his contract. Many PL clubs are already interested in signing KWP as free agent in the summer.”
Talking about a relegation scenario, that seems inevitable at the moment. The Saints again threw away their lead against Newcastle United and wasted another good opportunity to claim a win.
Thus, a Premier League comeback is off the conversation, at least for now. Hence, prioritising a few transfers for a summer squad rebuild isn’t a bad idea.
Regarding, Walker-Peters, let’s see whether he remains a Saint beyond this transfer window.
