SAINTS are working to finalise the signing of Queen’s Park starlet Harris Afzal, as they look to add more talent to the ranks within their academy.
The 16 year old is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Scottish Championship side, but he has been integrated under boss Sean Crighton.
Afzal was part of the squad that visited Ibrox in the Scottish Cup, although Rangers wound up 8-0 winners as they booked a quarter-final place.
Interest at St Mary’s was first reported by the Daily Record, who also added that national giants Rangers and Celtic have tracked left-back Afzal.
Saints are in discussions with the Spiders and the player over a permanent move, which would likely see the youngster join Andrew Surman’s under-18s.
Queen’s Park, Scotland’s oldest professional club, sold academy goalkeeper Callan McKenna to AFC Bournemouth for a reported £300k fee in 2024.
Saints signed 18 year old Hibernian full-back Rory Whittaker on a three-year deal in 2025, as they hunt high-potential players in undervalued markets.
The club have also signed prospects from Ireland in recent years, including Romeo Akachukwu, Joe O’Brien-Whitmarsh and Luke Hawe.
