Southampton completed the loan signing of Daniel Peretz from Bayern Munich in the January transfer window, and he was almost immediately installed as Tonda Eckert’s first-choice goalkeeper.
The Irishman’s form had come under question from supporters and Eckert, and he made the switch to Stoke City during the winter market.
Peretz has made 10 appearances in the Championship for the Hampshire outfit, conceding nine times and keeping four clean sheets.

It has been reported by German outlet Kicker that Bayern Munich are open to the permanent sale of Peretz this summer, and it has been claimed that the Saints are happy with the shot stopper’s progress and that they are keen on keeping him beyond this loan spell.
Peretz was a secondary choice with the German giants prior to his move to St. Mary’s, and they are now looking to offload him from their first team squad.
This should open the door to him remaining with the Hampshire outfit, with reports from Germany recently indicating that there is a €8 million buy option that can be triggered by the Championship outfit.

The Irishman’s contract with the Saints is set to expire in June 2027, meaning he is entering the final 12 months of his current deal after his £12 million move from Man City in 2022.
Meanwhile, Southampton are seventh in the Championship table following a 1-1 draw with West Brom on Wednesday evening.
The Saints moved to within three points of Wrexham in sixth, who lost to Hull City on Tuesday night.
Next up for Eckert’s side is a trip to face league leaders Coventry City at the CBS Arena on 14 March in a 12.30pm kick-off.

Peretz has performed well for Southampton since arriving in January, and he has stepped up to replace Bazunu.
The 24-year-old just hasn’t been able to make it work at St. Mary’s since joining from Manchester City, so finding a permanent replacement in the summer was always going to be a priority move.
The option to buy clause should make this a straightforward move to finalise, particularly with Bayern Munich being happy to let him go.
The switch to Southampton has also allowed Peretz the chance to play regularly again, so this is a deal that is working out well for all parties so far.
