The Sheffield Wednesday man has surprisingly been handed the accolade despite a tough start at Hillsborough.
Sheffield Wednesday and Danny Rohl will be looking to regroup over the first international break of the season after three consecutive league defeats without being able to find the back of the net in the Championship.
Rohl’s side currently sit in 20th position in the league, and several of the new signings haven’t quite lived up to what was previously expected.
Sheffield Wednesday’s attacking arrivals Jamal Lowe and Ike Ugbo have both struggled since their arrival in particular, as has Charlie McNeill, who disappointed in the EFL Cup against Grimsby Town.
The Owls also made the midfield addition of Svante Ingelsson from Paderborn, and the Swedish man got off to a perfect start at Hillsborough following the 4-0 victory against Plymouth Argyle, where he notched an assist.
Fast-forward a few weeks, Ingelsson has struggled to adapt to this level, however he has surprisingly been handed the Player of the Month award.

In comparison to the first runout for Sheffield Wednesday where Ingelsson controlled and dictated the centre-of-the-park alongside club captain Barry Bannan, it is safe to say that the midfielder has ‘disappointed’ ever since for Rohl’s side.
However, this has not stopped Owls fans voting for the 26-year-old as the clubs Player of the Month, with him beating the likes of Callum Paterson and Pol Valentin to the vote in second and third respectively, per the Sheffield Wednesday website.
Ingelsson started the first three league matches for Sheffield Wednesday, however he was dropped to the bench for the 3-0 defeat away at Millwall.

It has been a far from pretty start from Rohl’s side, and Ingelsson’s Player of the Month only highlights that.
When looking at players who have performed to a decent standard so far, you can’t go far past Bannan.
Like Ingelsson, Lowe, Yan Valery and Max Lowe also looked fired up and ready for the Championship after the season opener against Plymouth Argyle, but have also struggled ever since, and it shows that the side simply haven’t gelled up to this point.
There needs to be serious work put in over the international break for Rohl’s side, and whilst it is not fair to scapegoat Ingelsson as being in the minority of players that have struggled so far, he is in a similar position to many of the Owls players, and it will be a real show of character as to who can perform following the break.
