Portsmouth are interested in Jonathan Tomkinson following his exit from Norwich City, according to The Athletic reporter Larry Henry Jr on X.
Portsmouth are keen on landing the centre-back this summer. Pompey are preparing for another year in the Championship.
Tomkinson, 23, spent time last season on loan in the Scottish Premiership at Ross County. He will officially become a free agent this month and will be weighing up his options in the game.
As per journalist Henry on X, John Mousinho is interested in snapping him up. However, the Fratton Park club may have to fend off competition from Rotherham United, Stockport County and Reading in pursuit of his signature.
Norwich City published their retained list last month and Tomkinson wasn’t the only player released. Angus Gunn, Jacob Sørensen, Onel Hernández and Archie Mair have also headed out the exit door.
After signing him for Ross County in January, their boss Don Cowie told their website at the time: “Jonathan helps us to add competition to our defensive area. He comes with good pedigree having played regularly for Bradford City last season during his loan spells. He is a real presence at the back as well as being mobile too.”

Portsmouth could see Tomkinson as someone to boost their defensive department. Pompey have the chance to bring in some new faces over the next couple of months.
The former United States youth international started his career at FC Dallas. He moved over to England as a youngster and joined Norwich City in 2019.
He was handed his first-team debut by the Canaries in August 2022 in a Carabao Cup clash against Birmingham City. The Texas-born man has since played twice more for the East Anglian outfit.
Tomkinson has also been loaned out to Stevenage and Bradford to get some experience. He was then given the green light to link up with Ross County in January.
What now for Jonathan Tomkinson amid Portsmouth interest?
Portsmouth managed to preserve their second tier status with relative ease in the end last term. Mousinho has done an impressive job since taking the Pompey job.
They will be hoping that they can get their recruitment right ahead of next season. Although he may not be guaranteed a regular place in their starting XI at this stage, Tomkinson would add useful competition and depth to their defensive department.
Other teams are in the frame though including Rotherham United, Stockport County and Reading. The League One trio may well be able to offer him more game time which is what he needs.
