Which clubs should be in the race for Jayden Campbell's signature? | Sporting News Australia

The Perth Bears have reportedly made a monster $6 million play this week, in hopes of snatching one of the game’s brightest stars.

The mammoth offer has been made to lure Gold Coast Titans star Jayden Campbell west, as they look to secure a marquee signing ahead of their NRL debut.

According to News Corp, the Bears have tabled a five-year deal worth an estimated $1.2 million per season, hoping to make Campbell the face of the NRL’s 18th franchise.

While the Titans remain confident of retaining their local product, the 25-year-old is yet to re-sign beyond 2026 and is now weighing up his future.

Campbell’s father, Preston Campbell, became an NRL legend at the Titans, and the club hopes that family ties, along with loyalty to the region, will keep him on the Gold Coast.

“It’s a live situation,” said Titans football boss Scott Sattler.

“What’s important for us is to ensure players like Jayden stay at the Titans and enjoy the environment that’s been created for them.”

The Bears’ aggressive pursuit comes after ruling out Cameron Munster, turning their attention to a younger playmaker to spearhead their squad.

If accepted, Campbell’s deal would place him among the NRL’s highest-paid players, alongside Nathan Cleary, Mitchell Moses, Kalyn Ponga, and Jarome Luai.

Gold Coast have presented Campbell with an offer north of $850,000 per season, rising to $1 million with salary cap escalations from 2028.

However, Perth’s bid would see Campbell earn an extra $1 million over the total of his contract.

Campbell is yet to make a decision on his playing future beyond 2026.
