Norwich City defender Waylon Renecke has completed a permanent move to FC Copenhagen.
The 18-year-old joins the Danish Superliga giants to initially play for their under-19 side, despite having been involved with the first-team setup at Carrow Road in recent weeks.
City will receive a compensation fee for Renecke decided by tribunal, after he made the decision to leave the Canaries for the Europa Conference League club.
The South African made 17 appearances for Alan Neilson’s under-21s, having initially moved to Norwich as an under-14. He also made the matchday squad during David Wagner’s tenure as head coach, and played for the senior team during pre-season.
Copenhagen head of scouting and recruitment Mikkel Lund Køhler told official club channels of Renecke’s signing: “We are satisfied we have got another great talent in the central defender position at the club.
“Waylon is a player with a good education from Norwich who we believe we can develop at F.C. Copenhagen and unlock great potential. Now we have to help him take the next steps.”
