Norwich City winger Abu Kamara is the subject of strong transfer interest ahead of Friday’s deadline, with three bids from the Championship knocked back by the Canaries.
The youngster formally submitted a transfer request last Monday and wants to exit Carrow Road permanently this week.
City are braced for further interest in their academy graduate and are willing to do a deal at the right numbers, but none of the bids have reached the level to start a conversation.
Those bids are understood to have come from three separate teams, one of which is understood to be Hull, and Norwich are expecting those teams to return in short order with increased offers for the wantaway attacker.
The England U20 international spent last season on loan at Portsmouth, and Norwich is under no financial obligation to sell any talent after the exits of Gabriel Sara, Adam Idah and Jonathan Rowe.
Norwich boss Johannes Hoff Thorup opted to keep Kamara out of Saturday’s matchday squad for their 1-1 draw against Sheffield United at Carrow Road and explained that the winger would only depart the club on their terms before Friday’s deadline.
Abu Kamara was left out of Norwich City’s matchday squad on Saturday.
“I spoke with him the other day, and we just decided that the game will not be for him, for both parties in this, not to create too much distraction and too much attention about that,” Thorup said. “I think that was also what he, actually at the end, thought was the best decision. So we take it a little bit day by day with Abu and see how it goes.
“We don’t give any players away for free. So that’s the situation. I like him. He’s a good lad, and I think he performs well in training. And he’s a big part of the group, and will still be, until there is a transfer deal that we can accept.
“Because I think we we’ve proven that with both Jonny (Rowe) and Adam (Idah) and Gabby (Sara) so far this window, that’s we have players here on contracts and we need them for performance, and we can only accept if there’s a good offer.”
