Gabe Madsen has signed an Exhibit 9 deal with the NBA franchise after previously getting waived on Sept. 25.

The Rochester Mayo graduate has agreed to an Exhibit 9 deal with the NBA franchise, according to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.

An Exhibit 9 deal is a one-year, fully non-guaranteed contract that is often referred to as a training camp deal, designed to provide competition in the preseason.

The deal turns to a standard, non-guaranteed one-year contract if they are on the roster for opening night. The Exhibit 9 deal also includes a guaranteed injury clause.

Madsen had signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Heat after a stellar showing in the NBA Summer League, but was waived on Sept. 25.

Exhibit 10’s offer guaranteed money if the player decides to stick with the franchise through their G-League affiliate.

Madsen will have the ability to compete for a coveted two-way contract as Miami still has one of its three two-way spots available. Two-way contracts allow a player to split their time between the NBA team and its G-League affiliate.

The Heat’s G-League squad is the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

The University of Utah product turned heads while playing for the Golden State Summer League team in both Salt Lake City and Las Vegas.

In six games, the Utes’ all-time 3-point makes leader averaged 9.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 50% from the floor and 51.8% from 3-point range.

He scored 22 points, knocking down six 3-pointers in a win over the Utah Jazz Summer League team.

In his final season at Utah, Madsen started all 33 games, averaging a team-high 15.2 points, along with 2.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steal per game.
