Leyton Orient Set So Re-Sign 26-Year-Old Star Forward

Leyton Orient are one of four League One sides currently battling for an out-of-contract star who was most recently at third tier rivals Huddersfield Town.

They are joined in the race by Barnsley, Blackpool and Luton Town who were relegated from the Championship last season.

The Tykes have been reasonably active in the transfer window so far adding a few players, including the surprise addition of Notts County man David McGoldrick as they look to improve on what was ultimately a disappointing campaign.

However, they could now face competition for a forward target as they look to beat the Hatters, Seasiders and Orient to the signing of Josh Koroma.

Barnsley battle Luton Town, Leyton Orient and Blackpool for Josh Koroma

Josh Koroma left Huddersfield Town at the end of the season, having made 40 appearances and scoring 11 goals in the 24/25 campaign.

This added to his total of 168 appearances and 35 goals for the Terriers since joining from Leyton Orient in 2019. He had spells at Portsmouth and Rotherham United whilst on the books at the John Smiths but now finds himself a free agent at the age of 26.

According to FLW, Koroma is a target for former club Leyton Orient, the club which he progressed through the youth ranks as Richie Wellens side hope to replace the goals and attacking prowess they lost this summer.

Luton Town and Blackpool, two clubs also gunning for promotion are hopeful of convincing the winger/centre-forward that a move to them is the best possible option.

Koroma Talented Player, Needs a Good Home

Koroma has a huge amount of talent, which is clearly demonstrated by the calibre of clubs after his signature, however at 26 years old he needs a home to be able to showcase this. With a manager that will allow him the freedom to express himself.

The constant managerial changes at Huddersfield Town will not have helped his preparation so a return to Leyton Orient with a stable manager in Richie Wellens could be the best option.

However, Steve Bruce does have a managerial calibre few in the division can match and Luton Town were recently a Premier League club. Barnsley would allow him to stay local whilst also challenging.

There are positives to all four moves but a return home may well be his best option to reignite his career.
