John Eustace On Nine Big Derby County Decisions To Make This Summer

Derby County finished the January transfer window by adding four signings to their squad as they did their final business for the season.

The Rams kicked off their business with the signing of Lars-Jorgen Salvesen from Viking FK before they swooped to sign Matt Clarke from Middlesbrough for a nominal fee on a deal until the end of the season.

After Eiran Cashin left for Brighton for a fee of £9m, Derby then made their biggest outlay of the window when they forked out £4m to sign Salvesen’s Viking FK team-mate and centre-back Sondre Langas.

It was then rounded off by the arrival of Harrison Armstrong from Everton on a loan deal until the end of the season with the midfielder set to make his bow against Norwich City today.

There were other departures too with James Collins joining Lincoln City on a permanent deal while Sonny Bradley left for Wycombe Wanderers on loan until the end of the campaign.

But now the window has shut, Derby and their head coach John Eustace will soon start to focus on the summer and there are nine players whose current deals expire. Here DerbyshireLive brings you the rundown on the players that Derby will have to make a decision on at the end of the campaign.

Kane Wilson

The right-back is out of contract in the summer, but has been a key performer for Derby this season.

Is currently out injured with a hamstring problem but his quality out wide has been missed by Derby in recent weeks after coming off in the game against Sunderland. Has made 25 appearances in all competitions this term.

Liam Thompson

The academy graduate has played 20 games for Derby this season in all competitions, but is out of contract at the end of the season.

Has struggled to nail down a first-team place on a consistent basis but has been used from the bench.

Craig Forsyth

The long-serving Scot has proven to be a reliable performer when called upon and has played 29 games in all competitions.

Can play left-back or as a left-sided centre-back. Tremendous professional who has been an outstanding servant for Derby in a career that has spanned 12 years at Pride Park.

Another player who is free to leave the club in the summer.

Rohan Luthra

The third-choice goalkeeper has not made an appearance for Derby at all this season and was brought to the club as back-up for Josh Vickers and current number on Jacob Widell Zetterstrom. His deal expires at the end of the campaign.

Conor Washington

The striker has yet to kick a ball in the Championship this season not helped by injuries. He is currently working his way back to fitness, but he has been a signing that just has not worked out.

Has made just 22 appearances since signing for the club in the summer of 2023. Is out of contract in the summer.

Tom Barkhuizen

Has featured 15 times for the club this season in all competitions.

The winger scored eight goals for Derby in League One last season as the club went on to secure its first promotion in 17 years.

Sonny Bradley

The centre-back left the club in the January window to join Wycombe Wanderers on loan until the end of the season to help aid their fight to win promotion to the Championship.

Matt Clarke

Derby snapped up Clarke on a short-term deal until the end of the campaign in a bid to help their relegation fight. Has slotted straight into the team, but the former Middlesbrough and Brighton defender has picked up an injury.

Tyrese Fornah

Has been out on loan at Salford City where he has been a key performer under Karl Robinson with the League Two club hoping to push for promotion.
