Johannes Hoff Thorup is ready to fast track Liverpool’s on-loan winger Kaide Gordon into his Norwich City plans.
The highly-rated 19-year-old completed a deadline night move before a late call up for England’s Elite squad over the international period.
But Gordon trained with his new team mates on Thursday at Colney and head coach Thorup likes what he sees already.
“It was the first session that we have had so far with the team. Good first impression. And also, a guy that was really keen on coming here, which I think is important,” he said. “And also, like I mentioned, what we see in the team, and the group at the moment is really there’s a big desire.
“There’s a really great dynamic in the group at the moment. All the players that we got in were really eager to come here. So I think that’s important. But he looks promising. And I think we can expect that quite fast we’ll step him into the group and get him game minutes.”
The youngster, who joined Liverpool from Derby County for a fee potentially rising to £3.4million in February 2021, made an impressive breakthrough at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp.
Injury halted his progress last season after seven senior appearances for the Reds since his debut in a League Cup tie at Norwich in September 2021.
His new club boss previously singled out Gordon’s ability to commit defenders as a valuable addition.
“He’s more like a dribbler, and what we have at the moment on the right side is more runners and maybe type of players that are suited to run in the box and be a second striker model,” said Thorup. “So it gives us an option, a little bit like Borja (Sainz) on the left side.
“We have a player that can do a little bit of the same. So again, more options, and depending on the game and opposition and so on, it gives us these different attacking plans.”
