Ipswich Town youngster Ashley Boatswain has joined National League side Gateshead on a permanent deal, agreeing a contract which runs to the end of the 2026/27 season.
The 20-year-old recently returned to Portman Road after a loan spell at fellow fifth-tier side Woking, scoring five goals in 20 games for the Cards in all competitions.
Boatswain had been with the Blues’ since the age of 11, progressing through the youth ranks, becoming a regular for the U21s over the last few seasons.
He also had loan spells at Bury Town, Leiston and AFC Fylde during his time at Town.
The Colchester-born frontman never made a senior appearance for Town, but he became the first Blues player to win senior international caps with Montserrat, earning eight in total.
He now links up with Rob Elliot’s side, who are fighting for survival in the National League, with the Tynesiders sitting 23rd in the table, nine points adrift of safety.
