The Dallas Cowboys kicked off their Week 3 practice on Thursday, gearing up for a big game against the Baltimore Ravens. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing—injuries are still a concern.

The Ravens are rolling into Texas with some serious firepower. All-Pro quarterback and reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson leads the charge, and he’s got Pro Bowl running back Derrick Henry backing him up. They’ll have All-Pro inside linebacker Roquan Smith and All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton on defense. Speaking of Hamilton, he made a limited return to practice after sitting out Wednesday due to a nagging back injury.

Also on the mend is Baltimore’s 2024 first-round pick, cornerback Nate Wiggins. On Thursday, he was a limited participant after missing practice the day before with a neck/concussion issue. With both teams dealing with injuries, this matchup is shaping up to be a thrilling one!

CeeDee Lamb And Trevon Diggs Injury Update

Injury challenges hit the Dallas Cowboys this week. Two key players, All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and cornerback Trevon Diggs, missed practice on Wednesday. While dealing with an ankle injury, Lamb made a significant return on Thursday as a limited participant. His ability to bounce back is crucial for the Cowboys’ offensive strategy, especially with a tough matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on the horizon.

Trevon Diggs also returned to practice, but his participation was more restricted than Lamb’s. While he began with the team during stretching, he soon moved to work off to the side with the rehab staff, taking off his pads as practice drills commenced. This cautious approach highlights the team’s focus on managing his foot injury effectively, ensuring he is game-ready without risking further setbacks.

Jake Ferguson’s Road to Recovery

Tight end Jake Ferguson’s recovery has become a focal point for the Cowboys. He missed the previous week’s game against the New Orleans Saints due to a bone bruise and MCL sprain sustained during the victory over the Cleveland Browns. Despite this setback, optimism surrounds his return. Ferguson participated in limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday, showing tangible signs of recovery.

His presence is significant for the team’s play on the field and the locker room dynamic. Ferguson brings a physical edge and a competitive spirit that elevates the team’s overall performance. The coaching staff has been cautious with his rehabilitation, focusing on ensuring he is fully prepared for game action. His potential return could provide a much-needed boost to the offense.

DaRon Bland’s Recovery Progress

Cornerback DaRon Bland’s absence has been noticeable, particularly after the Cowboys’ defense struggled against the Saints, allowing touchdowns on each of New Orleans’ first six drives. Bland, who excelled last season with nine interceptions and five pick-sixes, is currently recovering from a procedure to fix a stress fracture in his foot sustained during training camp.

This week marked Bland’s first appearance at practice since his surgery, as he worked off to the side with the team’s rehab director. His progress in rehabilitation signals hope for his return to the field. The Cowboys need Bland’s playmaking ability, and they will closely monitor his recovery to strengthen their secondary.

Mazi Smith’s Absence

The situation worsened for the Dallas Cowboys, with defensive tackle Mazi Smith, their 2023 first-round pick, experiencing a back injury. He walked off the practice field gingerly on Wednesday, accompanied by the head athletic trainer. His absence raises concerns, especially considering the Cowboys’ recent struggles against the run.

Smith was not seen at practice on Thursday, suggesting that his back injury could be more severe than initially believed. As the Cowboys prepare to face a formidable Ravens offense led by Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, getting their defensive line back to full strength becomes increasingly critical. The impact of these injuries on the team’s overall performance will be closely watched as they gear up for the game.
