Crystal Palace register interest in 18-year-old centre-back after scouts reveal ahead of transfer deadline

Crystal Palace are among a number of Premier League clubs tracking Dundee United sensation Charlie Dewar, sources have told Football Insider.

The centre-back, 18, has caught the interest of a number of sides after impressing during the last 18 months out on loan at Alloa Athletic.

Sources say Palace have registered their interest in Dewar and their recruitment team are watching him closely.

Dewar has already made 40 first-team appearances, and he is seen by scouts as a youngster with the potential to develop into a Premier League star.

Crystal Palace have already spent heavily in the January window, and they now have Dewar in their sights as a long-term target.

Dundee United are pushing for a top-half finish in the Scottish Premiership, but they could soon be about to lose one of their most exciting young talents.

Dewar is yet to feature for the Terrors at senior level, but has already been earmarked as an academy prospect who has a huge future ahead of him in the game.

The defender spent time in the Scottish League One with Alloa during the 2024-25 campaign, and impressed sufficiently for the third tier outfit to push to take him again last summer.

Dundee United obliged, and he has since flourished for his loan club, having featured in 18 of their 22 league games so far this term.

His impressive performances have seen him appear on the radar of Premier League clubs, meaning that he may even be whisked away before he can make his first-team bow for his boyhood club.

Crystal Palace are hoping to win the race for his signature, with their close attention on the youngster unlikely to fade any time soon.

Football Insider revealed on Friday that West Ham have joined the race for Raheem Sterling, after Fulham and Palace had already registered their interest in the winger.

The struggling Hammers are trying to muscle their way in and hijack any attempts from their London counterparts to strike a deal with the former England international, who terminated his contract with Chelsea earlier this week.
