Innes and Louis Senior sign Castleford Tigers contracts - BBC Sport

Castleford Tigers have confirmed that winger Innes Senior has been released, freeing him to “pursue playing opportunities elsewhere.”

Senior, 25, joined Castleford initially on a season-long loan for the 2024 Super League campaign in a swap deal with Elliot Wallis. After a strong showing, he signed a two-year deal in May 2024 to remain at the club. During his time with Castleford, he was the club’s top try scorer in 2024 and earned regular selection.

However, his spell at the Tigers has also been marred by injury. He spent the final months of the 2025 season sidelined due to a significant ankle injury. That ailment effectively ends his current campaign, amid reports that he will not return to Castleford beyond 2025.

His release comes as part of a broader squad overhaul under club leadership. In a notable twist, Castleford and Leigh Leopards are reportedly arranging a direct swap: Senior heading to Leigh in 2026, with Leigh winger Darnell McIntosh moving to Castleford. Both players are reportedly told they are free to move on at the end of the current season.

From a performance standpoint, Senior leaves with solid credentials. In his 45 appearances for Castleford across 2024 and 2025 seasons, he tallied 24 tries. At times he showcased his attacking flair, notably scoring multiple-try performances, including against Salford and Huddersfield.

Looking ahead, Senior will now look to secure a fresh start elsewhere, presumably within Super League circles, with the proposed Leigh move the leading candidate.

His departure marks the end of a chapter at Castleford, where he combined promise and productivity with the misfortune of injury, and it sets the stage for new recruitment and reshaping as the Tigers move into 2026.
