Swindon Town have completed the loan signing of Southampton striker Princewill Ehibhatiomhan to further bolster their attacking options.
After missing out on a move for Joe Westley to Dundee FC, Swindon quickly pivoted to bring in the former England youth international on a deal until the end of the season.
Brother of Reading striker Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan, the 19-year-old was in the academy of the Biscuitmen, but, having also had a trial at Chelsea, joined Southampton.
The striker is yet to make his senior debut, although did score seven goals in 18 Premier League 2 matches, before also notching in the round-of-16 and quarter-final in their run to the PL2 final.
He also managed to score a hat-trick in the National League Cup last season against Maidstone in a 6-0 win for Southampton Under-21s.
Ehibhatiomhan said: : “I’m really excited to join Swindon Town. This is a great opportunity to test myself in senior football, and I’m ready to give everything to help the team have a successful season. I can’t wait to get out on the pitch, score goals, and work hard for the badge.
“I’ve heard a lot of good things about the club, the supporters, and the
atmosphere at the County Ground. After speaking with the manager, it was
clear this is the right place for me to develop and contribute.”
Swindon managed to fend off the interest of League One clubs to bring in the striker to round out their attacking options.
Ian Holloway said of his latest capture: “I am looking for a certain skillset, someone who can run in behind, someone who is strong and can hold it up, someone who can link play, and someone who scores goals.
“Princewill Ehibatiomhan is definitely the man. I had a bit of luck contacting Southampton and they let me talk to him, and we got on so well on the phone.
“There were all sorts of other people who wanted him, and I didn’t think for one minute he would choose us, and I am delighted he did.
“Yes, he is inexperienced, but I don’t think that matters as he has the skillset we need. He is fresh, hungry, and wants to prove a point.
“He doesn’t have to just be a nine, he can also be a ten or an 11 or off of a big man as well. Perfect.
“The more [attackers] you have got, the better they get as they are trying to outdo each other and there is a pecking order.
“I am delighted to have Prince turn up, I told him that he will be King of Swindon if he scores enough goals. He won’t just be Princewill, he will be King Will.”
