The latest Man United news as Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey was taken off during the first half of their Champions League game against Bayern Munich with an injury.
Aston Villa have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of Sunday afternoon’s match with Manchester United after Jacob Ramsey limped off during their Champions League game with Bayern Munich.
United travel to Villa Park in their final game before October’s international break – and will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League – having suffered a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham last time out.
Erik ten Hag’s team have made a mixed start, picking up just seven points from their opening six top-flight fixtures, but this weekend’s trip to the Midlands provides them the perfect opportunity to end this block of matches with a positive result – despite their recent run of form.
And opponents Villa have been handed an injury worry going into the fixture after Ramsey was substituted in the first half against Bundesliga giants Bayern on Wednesday night. The 23-year-old – who has even been linked with a move to United in the past – was replaced by Leon Bailey in the 27th minute.
It looked like Ramsey had hurt his groin as he hobbled off the pitch. The former England Under 21 international has had horrid luck with injuries in recent years. Last season, Ramsey missed a staggering 36 matches with a number of different issues, including a metatarsal fracture and a long-standing toe problem.
Speaking last January on his future, Emery said: “Jacob Ramsey is a very important player. He grew up here in the academy. His progression is clear and getting better.
“I want to keep him here with us. He’s a potentially, big, big player in Aston Villa and with England. I want to keep him here 100 per cent.”
